The new Tudoresque collection from A England.

As usual Adina has done a fabulous collection. This one surprised me as it’s 8 beautiful new shades. In almost 3 years now as a stockist I haven’t seen such a large release all in one go although quite a lot of shades have been discontinued recently so maybe it makes sense. This latest collection has been inspired by Tudor King Henry VIII and his 6 wives. The colours are a lovely wide range and feature both the subtle and the striking all with the characteristic A England holographic finish. The coverage is the usual amazing 1 coat wonder though I always like to apply 2 just to ensure a really deep, even colour. “Anne of Cleves” I would recommend 3 coats however as it is a bit more sheer.

Anne Boleyn is a gorgeous deep wine red. Initially I expected this to be a brighter colour, more like a scarlet but it is closer to a burgundy. The holographic effect is red however so it is definitely a great one for both business and pleasure; you can get away with it in the office as a normal red but when it picks up the light the extra glint really makes it sparkle. Easily a 1 coat wonder and I wore this with top coat for a week before I got a chip.

Anne of Cleves is a delicate dusky rose pink. As I’ve stated many a time, I am not a pink person, as a general rule I hate pink but I love all the pinks A England has done. This one is no exception. The holographic finish is silver which I find dulls the pink a bit so maybe that’s why I like it. This is more sheer than the other colours so I do feel it needs 3 coats ideally but 2 will work.

Catherine Howard reminds me a lot of Whispering Waves however it seems to lend itself to a more green shift. Unsurprisingly this is one of my favourites, I just can’t resist a good teal colour. The holographic finish to this one is more gold and green and you can see from the picture below this lends itself to the green side. The colour depth in this is great and you can very easily get away with just 1 coat.

Jane Seymour is surprisingly pretty. It’s a dark olive base colour but with golden flecks throughout which really give it a lift and sparkle. Due to the darkness this is of course a 1 coat wonder although again I’d recommend 2 coats just to get a deeper spread of the gold. You can really see the effect of this in the picture below.

Katherine of Aragon is utterly gorgeous! This one has the more classic rainbow holographic finish but it seems more subtle than usual somehow. The base colour is gold but feels like a dulled, almost buttery kind of colour which I absolutely love. It almost feels more like a nude shade. Surprisingly as well for such a lighter colour it is again an easy 1 coater.

Katherine Parr again has a more rainbow finish but feels subtle. This is a gorgeous dusty deep blue base that I want to call a periwinkle. The finish to this is just gorgeous and will easily look amazing in 1 coat. Again I feel you can get away with this one in both the office and casual situations.

Sir Loyal Heart is probably my joint favourite with Catherine Howard. Since the release of Incense Burner I’ve been obsessed with the brown/bronze shades and this one is just as beautiful as the others. The holographic finish is mixed with golds and reds which really enhance the bronze base and lends a lovely autumn feel to this polish. Being a darker polish it is again easily a 1 coat win.

The Most Happy… where would we be without a purple in an A England collection?! This is a lovely deep hued purple with a silvery holographic finish. It’s actually capable of quite a large range of colour as it’s quite a bright purple in sunlight but goes to a deep, almost royal purple in shade. A 1 coat wonder like the rest it is definitely a contender for one of the top A England purples (and there are a lot of those!)
