In Robe and Stripes

Happy New Year to everyone! Let’s kick this off with the first nail post of the year. This is the design I went for over New Year’s Eve although I didn’t get a chance to do clean up properly as I was getting shoved out the door by my boyfriend. I wouldn’t mind but we were only going to our regular night down a friend’s house, it wasn’t even anything special. We sit and play games, eat takeaway and maybe watch a film. Admittedly I had been wasting time in between drying coats though so it did take me about 2 hours to do these nails… Before I go any further as well the inspiration came from these beautiful nails; I’d already planned something similar to my favourite personal design and this post just built on it.

I started with a couple of coats of A England “Holy Grail”. Sorry the picture isn’t great but check my index finger, look at that beautiful colour. I then added striping tape once Holy Grail was completely dry. Some nails got 2 stripes, some 3 just to make it a little different.

Next up I put a coat of A England "In Robe and Crown" over the top then removed the striping tape. In Robe and Crown was an easy one coat colour so that definitely helped.

Finally I went over it all with a couple of coats of Barry M's Matte Top Coat. I love the colours and love the design.

What do you think? I am definitely going to recreate this design, it’s a bit of a twist on a french manicure and could work with so many different colour combinations. I’m thinking some sort of nude with maybe some brighter colours for the stripes next time.

If you’re in the UK you can purchase “In Robe and Crown” and “Holy Grail” from my shop. Non-UK readers can check out the list of official stockists to see where you can purchase these beauties.
