This year we’re not bothering to decorate the flat for Christmas. The main reason is that we usually have the tree up in the gaming room as this is where we spend all our time and of course you want to have the tree where you’ll enjoy it. However this is our first year with the goos and they will definitely eat the tree or climb it and eat the decorations or just generally find some way to cause mischief or get ill from it. So instead I bought a ton of decorations for their cage back in October and since 01/12 we’ve had a Christmas-themed cage. It’s still intact with 1 week to go so well done boys!
We also finally finished the cage extension. The bottom two levels were actually just a storage part before so now they have around 60% extra space to explore whilst in the cage and they love it. So much they hardly come out when we let them anymore!
Overall view of the top level. Lots to chew on and some carefresh spread around to look like snow. Kindly modelled by Diego.
The middle level. Running saucer, stuff to chew and a cute Rudolph house to snuggle up in. Modelled once again by Diego!
What used to be the bottom level. It’s now a half level with a full length shelf and again lots to chew on it plus their snugglesafe.
Their ‘basement’, another full length, half width shelf to with plenty of toys to chew plus a scattering of hay.
The extension. You can see the ‘basement’ level more clearly here plus we have two small square shelves set up under the doors for them to get in and out of the cage by. You can also see that the bottom half of the extension is filled with hay so they permanently have a ton of it to eat, burrow around in and I don’t have to store hay anywhere else in the house. We also throw their food in there so that keeps them occupied a little longer searching for it.
This poor snowman lasted an hour and a half before Diego came along and snipped through the string right at his neck! I found him the next morning a level higher with his nose chewed off…
Finally a very cute picture of Diego emerging from the Rudolph house. He has great fun going in there and scrabbling about which is amusing to watch as from the outside all you can see is the house bouncing about.
