Health and fitness post #6 01/12/2016

I can’t believe it’s that time again, where has the year gone?! I particularly can’t believe I’ve been doing these posts for 6 months (well 5 really I suppose). I’m sorting out the degu cage to be Christmassy later so let’s get on with this so I can make with festivities.

Weight loss goals

Talk about  a plateau. I’m not complaining that nothing has gone up so that’s good but some progress might have been nice. I am definitely ok with where I am though as this month I had a bad start with the first week due to Mum having come back home with me for a week so we ate out quite a lot, a charity bake off at work in which I baked (and joint won) plus of course I then had to give to charity and eat some cake myself as it would be rude not to and I then also had to steal a brownie recipe off one of the guys which I’ve made and sampled.

Exercise goals

So much for exercise. I was highly annoyed with my (ex) Clubbercise instructor this month. I’ve missed it so much and despite having a niggling feeling that I was maybe pushing my leg too much I decided I wanted to try and get back into it. First week I tried was when Mum was here and she was going to join in. So we set off after Mum had bought clothes specifically for it, walk in the dark for 30 25 minutes to get there and find the room is completely locked up. No lights on, no one waiting in the car park, nothing. So it wasn’t even like her normal “I’m going to be late and last minute cancelled”, it looked like no one was even expecting a class to be on. So we turn round and come home. I send her a Facebook message to ask if Tuesday classes are still on. No reply. The next week I message her the night before the class to ask if it will be on. No reply to mine but she has replied to someone about the Monday classes to say they are on. So I try going up there again just in case. Nothing. I didn’t try the next week as it was raining anyway but the following week I was going to try, so I sent her a text to ask. No reply. I check Facebook again just before I’m about to leave and she’s not only ignored my two Facebook messages and my text but she’s replied to someone else the week before to say that the Tuesday classes are no longer on. So she’s not getting my business anymore. Unfortunately I can’t find another class near me that I can walk to; they will all require bus journeys and when the class only costs £5 I’m not going to pay £4 to get there and back.

I’ve now decided it just means I’ll have to get back into my yoga and pilates which I wanted to do anyway as I can do those at home so that’s my goal for December. I was also very, very pleased with myself as I hit 15,000+ steps every single day through November! In fact I’ve hit all my goals every day, so I’m very pleased with myself.

Distance month 6

I will admit this last week I’ve been thinking “Oh it’s Christmas soon, December is fair game and start again in January” as we all do. I don’t intend to do our usual shop down the seasonal aisle, buying boxes and boxes of chocolates that we wouldn’t get any other time of the year. It’s expensive and every year we stand in the shop saying “Oh wow, we never have these, yay!” and a couple of days later are thinking “Oh god I suppose I’d better eat those just to get rid of them” which just isn’t right. If we’re not going to enjoy them there is no point. Of course any that come to us in present form (I know I have a huge box of Guylian) will be eaten but nothing extra is turning up. I’m also getting back into my yoga and pilates and Niall has said he too wants to start watching his weight and exercising a bit more at least when he isn’t working so I will have a fitness buddy. It will also make it easier for me to cook smaller portions if he is on board with it as currently I feel mean if I do too little. Roll on the New Year.

    Well done on achieving those steps! I am so lucky to have all different fitness classes available to me 5mins away from where I live.I forget that not everybody has that option! I tend to gain some weight every December as it’s my bday as well but I am really good a few weeks before and normally even lose some weight.
